More Swedish companies drug testing their staff

Swedish Radio News has been in contact with several occupational health providers that have all seen an increased demand for drug testing in recent years.

Fredrik Sparring is a company doctor at Avonova, one such provider. They have seen a doubling in the number of drug tests since 2021.

Drug tests may be used in professions where it would be dangerous or illegal to be under the influence, or where the work is considered particularly sensitive from a safety perspective. But Sweden's largest white collar union doubts whether ordinary companies in the service sector would fit that definition.
