Many foreign residents can't vote in Swedish elections — despite living here for 10 years

  • There are almost 193,000 foreign residents in Sweden who've held residency for at least 10 years, without becoming Swedish citizens. That's according to figures from Statistics Sweden.

  • They can vote in municipal and regional elections, but not in the elections for the Riksdag.

  • Johannes tells Radio Sweden his citizenship applications have been rejected three times, and he thinks this hinders integration.
