What is Christmas like in the Swedish North?
Join Radio Sweden as we meet Santa and go on a journey into the darkness of the northern Swedish Winter.
We start at Santa's Swedish workskop, Tomteland, or Santaworld, just outside Mora in Dalarna. It's like stepping into the magical world that surrounds the myths of Christmas, and we'll meet the Magical Elf himself.
We'll also meet the winter fairy Gnistra and one of Santa's elves.
Our journey also takes us to Kiruna, north of the Arctic Circle, to visit with members of the Sámi community, the indigenous population of northern Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. Still today, the Sámi maintain their centuries-old reindeer-herding society.
