Plants Closed due to Strike

At least 12 hydroelectric power stations were partly or completely closed on Tuesday as a result of an ongoing conflict between the electricians' union and the employers. Seven power stations were closed over the weekend after the electricians stopped working over-time making it difficult for the stations to keep up with repair work.

So far the conflict has not resulted in higher electricity prices but is costing the electricity suppliers tens of thousands of dollars, according to a Swedish Radio news report.
